Eric Thibodeau 

Eric Thibodeau is an Automation Engineer at Hydro-Québec, in the Protection Expertise team. His prior experiences include being Product Manager for Protection products at Gentec, and Software Developer specialized in communication protocols at Eaton. He is involved in the activities of the IEEE Power System Communications and Cybersecurity Committee (PSCCC) and IEEE PSRCC. He obtained his B.Ing. in Computer Engineering, as well as M.Sc.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Universite de Sherbrooke. As a graduate student, he was a lecturer in this institution about network protocols specification, design, components and architecture, as well as electronic power supply design. His main areas of expertise are TCP/IP networking, SCADA communication and cybersecurity, and digital protective relaying. He is a registered professional engineer in the Province of Quebec.

Eric enjoys training at dojo at his leisure time.

Sean Norris 

Sean Norris is a Senior Innovation Application Architect with GE Grid Automation, based in Edinburgh, UK. Seán has over 11 years’ experience with GE in the field of wide-area control with a particular focus on frequency and transient stability and product development in these areas. He has experience across the technology development stages from innovation through to business-as-usual deployment. He is currently working on the next generation of zonal autonomous control within GE Vernova and is an active member in working groups for System Integrity Protection Schemes and Generator protection and control.  

Outside of Engineering, he enjoys getting out trail running and exploring new routes around the UK with his family. He also enjoys woodworking and building new projects and spends time relaxing by playing guitar.

Thomas J Purcell (TJ) 

TJ Purcell is a Consulting Engineer at Dominion Energy Virginia, where he works in System Protection Automation and Analysis, focusing on transmission, distribution, and generation event analysis, as well as fault recorder deployment and maintenance. Other areas of interest include power quality, synchrophasors and Inverter Based Resource Performance Monitoring. 

He holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, a master’s degree in systems engineering from Old Dominion University, and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia.

Walter Sattinger

Walter Sattinger has a degree in Electrical Engineering and PhD from the University of Stuttgart, 

 For eight years he was a Research Assistant at DIgSILENT company. Since 2003 he is a power system expert at ETRANS/Swissgrid on the interface between power system operation and power system planning. Today he is responsible for the operational/ technically interface to power plants operators, distribution systems operators, transmission system and foreign power systems operators.

In his leisure time, Walter Sattinger likes travelling and biking, visiting new places with and without technical background.
