Saudi Arabia Smart Grid Conference (SASG) 2024

SASG 2024 was held 13-15 December 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The 12th SASG was held under the patronage of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, Minister of Energy, this high-profile event brought together key stakeholders from the energy sector. 

The conference agenda spanned four days, featuring workshops, technical sessions, panel discussions, and poster presentations on critical smart grid topics. Major focus areas included renewable energy integration, cybersecurity applications, energy storage solutions, and grid modernization.

Day 1 (December 15) offered seven specialized workshops covering topics from malware detection to renewable energy project development. Day 2 started with site visits to the SEC Smart Meters Center and System House Factory, followed by an opening ceremony featuring speeches from the Ministry of Energy and IEEE representatives. Days 3 and 4 featured technical sessions and panel discussions with industry leaders and academics. 

Notable discussions included “Shaping Utilities of the Future,” “Grid Modernization,” and “Energy Storage.” The conference also highlighted female leadership through the “Women in Power” panel. With over 60 poster presentations, the event showcased innovative research in renewable energy, AI applications, and electric vehicle integration. Major industry players supporting the event included Saudi Electricity Company, Aramco, SIEMENS, Huawei, and Hitachi Energy among numerous sponsors across different tiers.

The conference aligned with Saudi Arabia’s goals to enhance smart grid implementation, energy efficiency, and sustainable development in the power sector.
