

The 9th Annual Canada Protection Symposium was held from November 12-14, 2024, at the Toronto Marriott City Centre Hotel in Toronto, Canada. This event focused on emerging and new technologies in the electric power industry, specifically in protection, automation, and control. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from industry experts, network with peers, and learn from utilities sharing best practices and case studies.

The technical agenda included a variety of topics such as protection, automation, control, IEC 61850, digital substations, new developments in testing methods, lessons learned, utility case studies, DERs, microgrids, and energy storage, as well as data science and AI. These sessions provided valuable insights into the latest advancements and challenges in the industry.
During the coffee breaks and the lunch break the participants visited the different manufacturers demonstrating their latest equipment in the exhibition area. The day ended with a reception, allowing the participants to relax in a nice environment and enjoy spending time with old friends and making new ones.
The symposium featured several expert speakers who shared their knowledge and experiences, making it a unique and informative event for all participants. The event also offered opportunities for Continuing Technical Development Credits (CTDs) or Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
