
Nirmal Kumar C. Nair has been elevated to IEEE Fellow “for contributions towards secure renewables grid integration”. He received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University, India, in 1990, the M.E. degree in high voltage from the Indian Institute of Science, India, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M, USA, in 2004.He has held various industry, research, and academic positions during his career. He is currently a Tenured Faculty Member with The University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, where he actively engages in electricity stakeholders such as generators, transmission system operators, distributors/metering, regulators, vendors, and engineering associations regularly through consultancy, research, and advisory activities. His technical contributions are in protective relaying, renewable integration, electricity markets, blackouts, resilience, and power system education.
